STORY DICE, STORY SPINNER & STORY CARDS
BRIEF: Promote New Zealand Post’s Book Awards for Children & Young Adults
For three years running, we shared the magic of reading and writing with New Zealand's children. At each annual event, we inspired kids to see that thousands of stories are just waiting to be written via our Magic Dice, Story Spinners, and Story Cards. These fun tools provided exciting ways to start a story; something kids told us was the hardest part. Demand was so high from schoolteachers, parents, and children we went back into production several times.
STORY CARDS
We created packs of 40 illustrated cards, and with each card came four guiding questions. The story possibilities were literally endless.
THE STORY DICE
With each roll of the five “magic” dice, children discovered a genre, location, object, character and key word they could use as inspiration to write a story. Five dice, six faces = 7776 story ideas.
BECOME PART OF THE STORY
BRIEF: Promote New Zealand Post’s sponsorship of Writers & Readers Week
To immerse people in literature during New Zealand Post’s, Writers and Readers Week (an international arts festival held in Wellington), we installed motion sensor speakers in 15 locations around the city, to do just that. When a speaker was triggered, people suddenly found themselves in the middle of a dramatic, fantastical plot via the audio stories we had written, custom to that location.
OOH, PRINT & GUERRILLA TACTICS
These surprising ambushes, along with stories written to relate to specific media placements, invited thousands of Wellington citizens to "become part of the story". Unprompted local and national news coverage lead to sponsorship awareness rising from 36% to 50%, and all New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week events sold out in record time.
